Elementary Science Fair Projects – Make Your Own “Litmus” Paper And Use It

by admin

In today’s elementary science FAIR project, we make our own “tribunal” paper and then we will use. Do you know what “Sunflower” paper and what is it used? Yes, it is the paper used in chemistry labs to test the acid or alkaline, it changes color and so you can see whether a substance is acidic or basic. The litmus paper turns red-pink and green acid in alkaline solution. This is an easy and fun elementary science FAIR project. There are some involved boiling, this experience must be supervised by an adult.

This is what you need to make your “Sunflower” paper:

* Some freshly grated red cabbage
* Water, enough to fill your pot
* Paper Towels, 2 “Strip
* A wide-mouth jar
Other fruits, flowers and vegetables

How to do:

1st Boil cabbage in water for about 10 minutes.
2nd Cool.
3rd Strain it into a wide mouth jar.
4th Take 2 “of paper towels and soak in the juice for a minute.
5th The paper dry.
6th You now have your “Sunflower” paper, you can use.
7th Now, make paper in the same way with another substance, such as fruits, flowers and vegetables. If we start with the tests, you will see that the color changes are different and because of what you see with the herb “decisive” paper, you can change the color of your alternative “crucial” document identifying shows the acid and what color you show an alkaline solution.

Now we are going to experiment with our various “critical” documents

What you need for this elementary science FAIR project:

* Your “decisive” paper
* A little juice in a small bottle of Leman
* A bit of grapefruit juice in a small bottle
* A little pineapple juice in a small bottle
* A little vinegar in a small bottle
* A little bit of baking soda dissolved in a small bottle
* A little milk in a bottle
* A bit of rubbing alcohol in a bottle
* A little soap in a bottle
* Heat the oil in a small bottle
* A small pipette
* Sticker labels
* A black marker

This is what you must do:

1st Start with your decision, Kohl ‘paper-and-drop a little of each on the paper.
2nd Remember to wash after each drop.
3rd You will see that this rose is acid.
4th These are the litmus green called “fundamentals” and are alkaline.
5th With your stickers to make it clear that everyone is acidic or alkaline.
6th Now you put a small drop of the juice on your other “critical” documents and save color changes.
7th Now you know what each color of the alternative “decisive” round paper acidic and alkaline substances.

This is a fun project elementary science and very easy to do. To see, as the results of this experiment, why can not recommend using poison centers, vinegar or lemon juice for some types of poisons, visit projects of the Primary Science Fair.
